34 FY25 Wellness Promotion Policy (WPP) Annual Report Back to MenuHands-Only CPR Training Implementation %u2013 FY25 Participating Schools:Physical Education & Physical ActivityHands Only CPR Can Save Lives!Hands Only CPR was taught to all students enrolled in high school biology classes. Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work, or in a public location die because they do not receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. As a bystander, do not be afraid. Your actions can only help.Training Statistics:In FY18, a total of 8,360 high school biology students were trained in Hands-Only CPR during the first year of this requirement. In FY19, the number increased to 10,141 students, while in FY20, 6,997 students were trained before the District closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Expansion and Updates:In FY22, the Florida Legislature expanded the curriculum for 9th and 11th grade students to include CPR application, basic first aid, and comprehensive AED knowledge.%u2022 FY22: Approximately 26,000 students received instruction as a requirement.%u2022 FY23: A total of 26,022 students received Hands Only CPR, basic first aid, and AED awareness training.%u2022 FY24: Approximately 27,101 students continued to receive the same training.%u2022 FY25: Approximately 26,421 students continued to receive the same training.Alexander W.
