38 FY25 Wellness Promotion Policy (WPP) Annual Report Back to MenuPhysical Education & Physical ActivitySouth Florida Fair Kid%u2019s MileThe Annual South Florida Fair Kid%u2019s Mile is a 12-week training program that enables kids to complete a full marathon (26.2 miles) by running or walking approximately two miles per week. This approach allows kids to develop a tremendous feeling of accomplishment and confidence without the high risk involved with running a full marathon in one day. The 13th Annual South Florida Fair Kid%u2019s Mile was successfully completed on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the South Florida Fair Grounds in West Palm Beach where each child ran the final mile of the marathon. The event was proudly endorsed by The School District of Palm Beach County, all elementary schools were encouraged to participate. Physical Education teachers implemented the program at their respective elementary school, maintaining direct communication with South Florida Fair staff to manage the distribution of documentation and mileage log sheets. Each student who participated and completed the full 26.2 miles received free admission to the South Florida Fair on race day, along with a finisher%u2019s medal, cape, goodie bag, bib number, and refreshments after the race. Additionally, the program included a reading component, requiring students to read for 15 minutes each day.
