MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Biomedical Health Informatics Available School Options
Students in the Biomedical Health Informatics Academy can earn industry certification
within the technology field and certifications within the medical and business fields. Choice
This dual–track academy offers an innovative, integrated learning environment · Omni Middle
designed to provide students with an academic foundation for medical and In–House: None available
biomedical sciences, information technology, business, electronic records, data
management and design, and health information programs.
Biomedical Sciences (FAU College of Medicine)
The goal of the Healthcare Careers Outreach Program (HCOP), with the Charles Available School Options
E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University, is to foster student Choice
interest in Medicine and prepare students to be college and medical school ready. · Lake Worth Middle
Participating students will be mentored by FAU College of Medicine students during · Roosevelt Middle
activities held on FAU campus. Activities include field trips to the FAU Simulation In–House: None available
Center, Anatomy Lab, dissections, college roadshow workshops and research
experiences. Parent or guardian participation is expected. The FAU HCOP program
supports underrepresented and under–served minorities in South Florida on their
path towards Medicine. In the School District of Palm Beach County all medical
courses provide local honors credit. Clinical rotations are conducted at area hospitals
and other healthcare and research facilities. Students successfully completing the
4 accelerated high school honors courses in middle school receive 4 high school
credits and a program completion certificate in Biomedical Sciences. In addition,
students sit for industry certification exams in healthcare and may receive articulated
college credits at several post–secondary institutions. All students applying to this
program must meet the following eligibility criteria: A minimum of 3 or above on state
assessments and an eligible score on an internal assessment which includes two essays
and an interview.
Business Leadership
In partnership with Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) to offer a unique Available School Options
Business Leadership Academy that empowers students to think and act like Choice
entrepreneurs, learning flexibility and adaptability, communication and collaboration, · Addison Mizner (grade 6, only)

reliance, comfort with risk, opportunity recognition, and future orientation. Project
based learning modules are infused in core curriculum content so that students apply
entrepreneurial and design thinking skills to identify solutions to unique, real-world
problems. This infusion supports academic, business, and technical skills proficiency.
Cambridge Academy Available School Options
The Cambridge Academy provides students with the opportunity to pursue a
rigorous program of study based on an internationally standardized curriculum. Choice
Cambridge academies differ from a traditional setting because of the instructional · Woodlands Middle
model, in which the curriculum is delivered to the learner in an integrated cross · Verde (Grade 6 and 7 only)
content and spiraled method. The goal of the Cambridge program is to build a sound In–House
academic foundation for all learners that will enable them to succeed in any high · Lantana Middle
school program including AICE, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate,
Honors and regular education programs. Students will develop skills to be confident,
responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged learners. Students applying to the
Cambridge Academy should possess successful schooling habits, habits of mind,
enjoy learning and working with like–minded students and be able and willing to
direct their own learning.
