The Department of Behavioral and Mental Health remains focused on ensuring that students are evaluated within the
        State-mandated timeline of 60 calendar days from the date parents provide consent for an initial evaluation of their child.

          •  Over 3,800 students have received, or are in the process of receiving, comprehensive individualized psychoeducational
            evaluations to support each student’s unique educational needs in FY24.
          •  The most recent Indicator 11 report (FY23) submitted to the Florida Department of Education indicates a continued
            high compliance rate of 98.17% across all initial student evaluations.


        Crisis Management & Support Services for Individual Students in Crisis
        Crisis,  Assessment,  Prevention,  and  Education  Support  Services  (CAPE)  is  a  team  of  highly  skilled  and  credentialed
        professionals with expertise in crisis management. This team mainly focuses on mental health, behavioral health, and
        students with disabilities. This team provides services to help schools address individual student mental health crisis events.
        By employing a multidisciplinary approach, the team leverages diverse skill sets, including trauma-informed care, behavior
        management, and care coordination, to provide comprehensive support to students, families, schools, and communities.

        CAPE Support Services provided school-based professional learning on the following topics:

          •  De-escalation at a glance
          •  Non-suicidal self-injuries
          •  Mental health: student support for re-entry
          •  Impact of social media on youth mental health
          •  Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA)
          •  Suicide Risk Assessment (SRA)/ Involuntary Examination Restraint and Seclusion (IERS) compliance and
            documentation
          •  Coordination of the State designation for Suicide Prevention-Certified School

        Suicide Prevention Certified Schools
        The  “Suicide  Prevention  Certified  School”  designation  is  provided  by  the  Florida  Department  of  Education  (FLDOE),
        requiring all of the following:
          •  All instructional personnel are required to complete two hours of FLDOE-approved youth suicide awareness and
            prevention training every three years.
          •  The youth suicide awareness and prevention training must be included in the District’s continuing education or
            master in-service plan.
          •  The school has at least two school-based mental health services providers who are qualified to conduct a suicide risk
            assessment using a FLDOE-approved screening instrument.
          •  The District or school has a policy requiring the use of an approved suicide risk assessment instrument administered
            by a school-based mental health services provider before requesting or initiating an involuntary examination due to
            concerns about a student’s suicide risk.
          •  Schools with the FLDOE Suicide Prevention Designation:
              •  FY23 - West Boynton MS
              •  FY24 - 12 additional schools are in the process of submitting their application
          •  District Compliance - Suicide Awareness and Prevention Training:
              •  FY23 - 19,254 District employees trained
              •  FY24 - 16,600 District employees trained
