        USDA BEST PRACTICE AWARD - Southeast Region                                                                                Garden Curriculum Workshop
        Promoting a Healthy School Environment                                                                                     Building on the successful school garden initiative District-wide to cross-pollinate academics and school
                                                                                                                                   gardens, the School Food Service Department offered a Garden Curriculum Workshop on Saturday, November
        This is an iniative from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  In 2016, to ensure consistent

        The  USDA Best Practice Award was presented at the Florida Department of Agriculture Child Nutrition
        Directors’ Conference in Orlando in April 2019 to the District’s School Food Service Department.  The award
        was received for the creation and oversight of the District’s Garden Collaboration Team as well as the
        Garden Guide, and the Garden of Dreams.  At the time, in addition to recognizing the efforts of the Garden                                            School
        Collaboration Team, the moderator specifically references the meaningfulness of the Omni Middle School’s
        Garden of Dreams.
