MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Biomedical Health Informatics Available School Options
Students in the Biomedical Health Informatics Academy can earn industry
certification within the technology field and certifications within the medical and Choice
business fields. This dual–track academy offers an innovative, integrated learning · Omni Middle
environment designed to provide students with an academic foundation for medical In–House: None available
and biomedical sciences, information technology, business, electronic records, data
management and design, and health information programs.
Biomedical Sciences (FAU College of Medicine)
The goal of the Healthcare Careers Outreach Program (HCOP), with the Charles Available School Options
E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University, is to foster student
interest in Medicine and prepare students to be college and medical school ready. Choice

Participating students will be mentored by FAU College of Medicine students during · Roosevelt Middle
activities held on FAU campus. Activities include field trips to the FAU Simulation In–House: None available
Center, Anatomy Lab, dissections, college roadshow workshops and research
experiences. Parent or guardian participation is expected. The FAU HCOP program
supports underrepresented and under–served minorities in South Florida on their
path towards Medicine. In the School District of Palm Beach County all medical
courses provide local honors credit. Clinical rotations are conducted at area hospitals
and other healthcare and research facilities. Students successfully completing the
4 accelerated high school honors courses in middle school receive 4 high school
credits and a program completion certificate in Biomedical Sciences. In addition,
students sit for industry certification exams in healthcare and may receive articulated
college credits at several post–secondary institutions. All students applying to this
program must meet the following eligibility criteria: A minimum of 3 or above on
state assessments and an eligible score on an internal assessment which includes two
essays and an interview.
Business Leadership
The Business Leadership Academy empowers students to think and act like Available School Options
entrepreneurs, learning flexibility and adaptability, communication and collaboration,
innovation and creativity, critical thinking and problem solving, initiative and self- Choice

entrepreneurial and design thinking skills to identify solutions to unique, real-world
problems. This infusion supports academic, business, and technical skills proficiency.
Cambridge Academy
The Cambridge Academy provides students with the opportunity to pursue a Available School Options
rigorous program of study based on an internationally standardized curriculum.
Cambridge academies differ from a traditional setting because of the instructional Choice
