P. 13
INTRODUCTION
PURPOSE OF THE PLAN
In accordance with Florida Statute § 1008.25(1)(2), the purpose of the K-12 Student Progression
Plan is that each student’s progression from one grade to another be determined, in part, upon
satisfactory performance in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies;
that district school board policies facilitate student achievement; that each student and his or
1
her parent be informed of the student’s academic progress; and that students have access to
educational options that provide academically challenging coursework or accelerated
instruction pursuant to Florida Statute § 1002.3105.
This Student Progression Plan strives to ensure that the required program of study, placement,
promotion, reporting, retention, and special programs are equitable and comprehensive for all
students. It is the responsibility of the School Board and the School District of Palm Beach
2
County (SDPBC) administration to provide students with effective instructional and remedial
programs that monitor progress, promote continuous achievement, and make provisions for
individual differences.
