JUNIOR RESERVES OFFICER TRAINING CORPS (JROTC) PROGRAMS

        Skills for Life
Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps (JROTC) programs emphasize skills for life and prepare students for post–high school success.
Some students participate in JROTC with an interest in the military career pathway. JROTC can help students obtain ROTC scholarships
to college or one of our nation’s prestigious military academies. Those who complete 2 to 4 years of JROTC may enter service having
already achieved rank that will provide increased pay. All students will be mentored to help them achieve their future career goals. The
program is taught by retired military personnel who serve as mentors and instructors.

A well-groomed appearance by all Cadets is fundamental to JROTC and contributes to building pride, esprit, good order, and discipline
essential to an effective unit. Cadets are required to adhere to participation expectations and standards, including grooming standards.
For more information contact the Choice Coordinator at each school.
The main mission of JROTC is not recruitment, but rather, "To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens." This is accomplished
through a curriculum that emphasizes leadership, community service, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. Key areas
        of study typically include:
            · Leadership Studies: Cadets learn the principles of leadership, management, and effective communication.
            · Citizenship and Government: The curriculum covers American history, civics, and the responsibilities of being a good citizen.
            · Health and Wellness: Physical fitness, first aid, and healthy lifestyle choices are integral components of the program.
            · Life Skills: Topics such as financial literacy, career planning, and effective study habits are often included.

Beyond the classroom, JROTC cadets have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities that reinforce their learning and
        build camaraderie. These can include:

            · Drill Teams: Cadets can compete in precision drill competitions.
            · Color Guard: Students present the national and state flags at school and community events.
            · Raider Teams: These are physically demanding teams that compete in various outdoor challenges.
            · Academic Bowls: Cadets can test their knowledge in academic competitions against other JROTC units.
            · Community Service Projects: A core component of the program is giving back to the community through volunteer work.
