MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Dance Available School Options
The Dance program is designed to develop technically proficient dancers who are
versatile, thoughtful, and inquisitive. Students will have the opportunity to study Choice
and gain competitive skills in the fine art field of dance. Students will develop · Bak Middle School of the Arts*
fundamental skills and technique in ballet, a variety of modern and jazz styles, and · Lantana Community Middle
cultural dances while exploring movement terminology, musicality, choreographic · Palm Springs Community Middle
concepts and dance theory. · Plumosa School of the Arts K-8

Digital Graphic Design
The Digital Graphic Design program is a unique sequence of courses that enables Choice
students to identify, analyze and create various forms of graphic art. The curriculum · Congress Middle
is highly project–based and designed to prepare students for high school graphic · Plumosa School of the Arts K-8
design academies. Students are introduced to the latest versions of graphic design In–House: None available
software used in the professional industry, including: Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe
Illustrator CS6, and InDesign CS6. A wide array of tools are used to produce logos,
labels, icons, advertising graphics, brochures, posters, presentation boards, photo
enhancements, and SLR/Digital Photography.

Digital Video Design
The Digital Video Design program enables students the opportunity to explore and Choice
create various hands–on video and audio animated digital projects. Students work · Congress Middle
in state of the art iMac Labs using a variety of software tools to create project–based In–House: None available
assignments tailored to sequential curriculum. Student design projects include: video
slide shows, video trademark logos, animated videos, video commercials with voice–
overs, music videos, Garage Band music beats, mobile web site videos, iPad friendly
videos, smartphone ready videos, and mobile web sites. The curriculum prepares
students for high school programs that feature career related pathways in Audio/
Video Technology, Film, and Telecommunications.

Environmental Science and Technology
Students in the Environmental Science and Technology program will use various Choice
technologies as educational tools to develop environmental science-based academic · Dwight D. Eisenhower K-8 (grade 6 only)
projects, presentations, learning activities, and assessments. Students will use In–House: None available
technology to explore, evaluate, and communicate environmental issues regarding
conservation, restoration, preservation, and sustainability by applying this knowledge
through Gopher tortoise preservation, ecosystem restoration, recycling, sustainable
gardening, aquatic life protection, and energy conservation. Eighth grade students
may earn an Industry Certification in Technology.. This Environmental Science and
Technology program is offered as a continuation of the K-5 Environmental Science
and Field Research program or for students interested in Environmental Science at
the middle grades level.

Environmental Science/GIS
Environmental Science/GIS includes instruction in biology, chemistry, physics, Choice
geosciences, climatology, statistics, and mathematical modeling. There is a focus on · Roosevelt Community Middle
the application of biological, chemical, and physical principles to the study of the In–House: None available
physical environment and the solution of environmental problems, including subjects
such as abating or controlling environmental pollution and degradation. It also
focuses on the interaction between human society and the natural environment, and
natural resource management.
