MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Mechatronics
Available School Options
Mechatronics is the combination of mechanical engineering, computing, and
electronics as used in the design and development of new manufacturing Choice
techniques. Mechatronics is critically important to keeping industrial or production · West Technical Education Center
facilities operation systems running smoothly. The program at West Tech places a (grade 8 only)*
heavy emphasis on hands–on manufacturing skills & robotics production. As you In–House: None available
matriculate through this program you will have opportunities to earn up to four *Students spend the day at their assigned
industry certifications—Pre–Engineering, Robotics, MSSC Certified Production school while participating in Mechatronics as
Technicians (MSSC–CPT), and Mechatronics Fitter. Students that earn the MSSC– an elective course.
CPT industry certification should be eligible for 15 credit hours towards the Florida
Engineering Technology A.S./A.A.S. where the program is offered in the state.
Multimedia and Television Production Available School Options
Students will learn the fundamentals of journalism, story–boarding, scripting,
lighting, and equipment set up. Students will demonstrate an understanding of Choice
control room operations, such as super–imposing, operating internal key sources, · Osceola Creek Middle
chroma key applications, and altering key colors. Students will also demonstrate an · Plumosa School of the Arts K-8
understanding of video editing skills by learning hands–on with professional non– In–House: None available
linear editing software. This program will be journalism intensive the first year so
that students have a strong writing background, before moving to skills regarding
camera systems, operations, sound, graphics, editing, lighting and staging during
the second year. The final year will involve hands on, team oriented experiences
with production as the goal. This strong writing and production program will
support rigor in academic Language Arts courses and link to the content of two IT
courses.

The Multimedia, Music, and Communications program provides students with an Choice

Students in the Keyboard/Piano program will master note reading, understanding Choice
