POSITIVE BEHAVIOR
SUPPORT AND CLASSROOM
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
(PBIS) is an evidence-based, multi-tiered framework
for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social,
emotional, and mental health needs. All schools
implement PBIS systems and practices based on the
seven essential components used in the District:
1. Administrator support, participation, and
leadership
2. The team process: common purpose and
approach to discipline
3. Define positive expectations for all students
and staff
4. Procedures for teaching expected behaviors
5. Continuum of procedures for encouraging
expectations
6. Continuum of procedures for discouraging
inappropriate behavior
7. Procedures for ongoing monitoring and
evaluating the effectiveness of the PBIS system
The District received recognition through the FY24
Florida PBIS Project, with 97 schools achieving Model
School status. This outstanding achievement included
30 bronze, 50 silver, six gold, and two platinum awards.
These recognitions highlight equitable discipline
outcomes for all subgroups as well as tier II and III
behavioral supports at the school level.
