STUDENT PERFORMANCE DATAThe Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is the State%u2019s progress-monitoring (PM) system for evaluating performance in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics. Implemented in FY23, FAST is administered three times per year and measures student achievement against Florida%u2019s Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) standards. The Algebra I and Geometry End-of-Course (EOC) assessments are also aligned with these standards. Key highlights from the assessments are shown in the figures below.English Language Arts (ELA)In ELA, more students in grades 4-10 started the school year on grade level than in FY25. In K, 1, and 3, the difference was less than a point; however, the FY26 grade 2 cohort was 4 percentage points lower than FY25 on PM1. Regardless of the starting point, FY26 PM3 performance exceeded FY25 across all grade levels.Figure 1FY25 vs. FY26 Grades K-5 FAST Reading Scores from the Fall and Spring Progress Monitoring132026 2432 33121922 23333651544756 57 56 56 57505962 63Percent Level 3 and Above0255075Kindergarten Grade 1 Grade 2 Grade 3 Grade 4 Grade 5Fall FY25 Fall FY26 Spring FY25 Spring FY26
