Quality teaching is recognized as the most critical factor that ensures student success. The
Human Resources (HR) Division has developed the Teacher Selection Guide to assist
administrators and school communities in selecting the ideal teachers for their schools. The guide
is designed with effective best practices to ensure that the School District of Palm Beach County
(SDPBC) is a fair, diverse, and high-performing organization.

The Teacher Selection Guide provides school principals and school site selection committees with
best practices for conducting a fair recruitment and selection process consistent with Equal
Employment Opportunity (EEO) principles. It offers practical tips, sample letters, and related
resources for your reference as you conduct your recruitment and selection processes. The Guide
is offered as recommended guidance only and should not be construed as regulation or required
procedure.

The Teacher Selection Guide is available online at www.palmbeachschools.org/jobs. On that
page, click the “Teacher Selection Guide” button under General Information to access the guide.
Our Human Resources staff is available to principals for more individualized guidance regarding
the development and administration of these selection processes to address specific school site
