The Health Advocacy Benefit

This marks the first seven months that The School District of Palm Beach County, Florida has used the Health Advocate service. A unique benefit, Health Advocate gives each eligible employee of the school district, as well as their spouse, dependent children and parents and parents-in-law, access to their own dedicated Personal Health Advocate. Typically registered nurses, supported by medical directors and benefits and claims experts, Personal Health Advocates work one-on-one with members to resolve a variety of time-consuming healthcare and insurance-related issues.

And much more. All employees have to do to get started is call the toll free phone number, anytime, 24/7 with their question.
Utilization

Health Advocate’s Health Advocacy service has been in effect for close to seven months. Since its inception, it has experienced good utilization and the program is running well. The overall utilization for the Health Advocacy service is trending at 26.46% annualized. This is consistent with other Health Advocate large groups and is considered to be in the expected range.

Due to the changing needs of both our clients and our members, Health Advocate continues to evolve and expand our product and service offerings, while continuing to provide a reasonably-priced service. Here are a few ways we are growing:

    Launch of EmpoweredHealth™ EmpoweredHealth combines a host of key benefits and services—health advocacy, wellness coaching, employee and work/life assistance, healthy reminders and chronic care support and more—into one, integrated program on a single systems platform. One 800# connects employees to a dedicated team of interdisciplinary experts, who work side-by-side to improve overall employee health and productivity.

    New Innovation Center. In July 2013, we opened a newly renovated Innovation Center. The Innovation Center includes the EmpoweredHealth work space, as well as new meeting rooms, an enhanced visitors lobby, and an employee café.

    Provider Locator Database. Health Advocate is always looking for ways to improve our work flows and make operations more efficient. In 2012, we developed and implemented an enhanced Provider Locator Database for the tracking of the research we do on behalf of members to find doctors, specialists and other types of providers. The database has enabled better reporting and workflow management.

    Client Service Help Desk. Launched in 2012, this tool allows for better tracking of requests received by the Client Services Department from the call center. The Help Desk tracks and expedites escalated issues or requests.
