Virtual Learning
Virtual Training:
FDLRS has been providing options for training, including virtual training for the last
few years. As face-to-face training has been suspended, FDLRS has converted face-
to-face training into virtual professional development. These include: Multisensory
Early Language Development (MELD), Universal Design for Learning (UDL),
Digital Tools, Strategic Instructional Model (SIM), Accommodations and more.
Training has been provided at various times of day to meet the needs of all teachers
in our school district.
Virtual Office Hours:
Due to the shift to remote learning last Spring and the continuation of on-going
support needed by schools the ESE and FDLRS Department hosts a variety of
topic based virtual office hours. ESE and FDLRS Department staff and experts
are available during non-instructional hours to provide support and one on one
assistance to teachers and administrators. FDLRS/FIN has hosted a variety of office
hours, by topic, including SIM, Accommodations, Inclusion, Assistive Technology,
and Compliance.
Multisensory Early Language Development (MELD)
MELD Goes Virtual!
As with all of the FDLRS professional
development, the Multisensory Early
Language Development training was done
virtually this year! Our three full day
sessions have been broken up into multiple
virtual sessions throughout the school year.
We have 35 teachers and Speech Language
Pathologists working hard implementing
the program in their classrooms. We
have also added a parent
training component which
has proven to be helpful for
our students who participate
through distance learning.
Our participants have become
very creative in presenting
lessons using the core
vocabulary communication
boards virtually as well as in
person! Kudos to all of our
participants.
