Encourage
Students to
Change Their
District Network
Passwords
The District’s required TechSafe program and cyber-security best
practices include information about periodic password changes for all
District student accounts.
All students should regularly change their District passwords to prevent
other students from accidentally or intentionally accessing someone
else’s account. With the increased usage of the Student Portal and
other academic software applications on shared computers, this
practice is more important now than ever before and is
strongly encouraged.
To maintain account integrity, it is strongly recommended that
students immediately change their password from the standard default
password. This will greatly reduce the risk of someone else logging into
a student’s District network account.
At the appropriate time and with support as needed, all students
should complete the following three steps to change their
District password:
1. At any District Windows computer (while logged in)
press CTL-ALT-DEL.
2. Select “Change a password.”
3. Follow the instructions to change to a new password of the
student’s choice.
