With the CIO
Welcome to the back-to-school edition of Technology in Motion for
Education (TIME). I hope everyone was able to take a break, spend some
time to relax and re-energize with the much-needed summer vacation. It is
that time again, back from the break to get ready for another exciting school
year. Summer is the time when we upgrade our systems, applications and
infrastructure. We continued with that trend in Information Technology to step
up efforts to ensure that our schools and back-end infrastructure are ready for
the school year.
IN THIS One great piece of news, we worked with our stakeholders and completed
ISSUE all our projects and tasks to ensure we have a smooth start of school.
The rollout of Phase 1 for the new SIS (Student Information System) was
also a resounding success. Kudos and many thanks to our stakeholders,

implementation of this project. Our schools were able to do the master

Facilities Projects - Sales Tax .... 8 Many projects and initiatives were completed this summer, including
the following:
CONGRATULATIONS ................. 9 • Principal Resource Center: This was created using SharePoint to help
2017 Summer Interns ........... 10-11 with content and collaboration.
Chromebook Deployment ....... 12 • Completed 18,500 Chromebooks with carts rollout to all secondary
eForms & ImageQuest ............. 13 schools for the Trailblazer program.
eForms/Emojis .......................... 13 • Increased District schools Internet Bandwidth: We doubled our District
Student Network Passwords 14-15 bandwidth from 8GB to 16GB to meet the increasing demand for
Updated IT Policies ................... 16 classroom instruction.
Kudos .................................... 17-21 • Middle School Servers refresh: Funding from the tax referendum enabled
all middle school servers to be refreshed after 5 years of usable life.
• Trained School Techs (ITSAs & STSTs): Informed new School Techs of
the policies, procedures, duties, etc., which will help them be successful
in their new position. Provided update on upcoming IT projects that may
affect schools.
• Printing of Student Schedules and Reports: Assisted schools with
large printing jobs.
