New District Copiers
As covered in bulletin #PD 17-328 CFO, the District contract with Ricoh
recently expired and a competitive bid was initiated by Purchasing to
address the situation. Sharp was awarded and approved by the Board
on May 10, 2017.
With this new contract, the District has gained a whole range of copiers
with modern capabilities, supplying computer labs throughout the
District that are lacking copiers. This will reduce the burden that schools
face with increasing maintenance cost on older copier/printer devices
not covered under this contract.
The IT Technical Operations department worked with Purchasing and
the Sharp team to roll out over 2,200 Sharp copiers and introduce over
600 new Lexmark copiers to be utilized in computer labs throughout
the District.
With the introduction of these new copiers, the District provided new
technologies to improve ease of use and management. Highlighted
changes include: “Follow Me” style printing (jobs can be held and
released from any managed copier), mobile printing (allows District
employees to print from Chromebooks and iPads), and fax from any
Sharp device (via the RightFax button).
This summer the Data Center purchased 2 new industrial sized
printers to continue to provide the printing needs of the District
Schools and Departments.
The Data Center will continue to print school’s reports as
requested from the Focus SIS.
