Strategic Plan Implementation
Looking back on FY24, the District’s Strategic Plan yielded accomplishments across the four pivotal themes: Academic
Excellence and Growth, fostering a dynamic learning environment that nurtures both intellectual achievement and personal
development; Student-Focused Culture, ensuring that every student feels valued and empowered to thrive academically
and personally; Mental Health & Wellness, prioritizing the holistic well-being of students and staff alike, thereby creating
a foundation for sustained success; and Committed and Impactful Employees, recognizing and empowering the dedicated
professionals whose passion and expertise drive positive outcomes for the entire school community. Through steadfast
commitment and collaborative effort, these themes have been embraced and translated into tangible achievements that lay
the groundwork for continued progress and excellence in education.
Here are some accomplishments from FY24.
Academic Excellence and Growth
The Academic Excellence and Growth theme focuses on improving educational
outcomes and ensuring students receive a high-quality education.
• Trained over 600 educators from 42 schools and departments/regions on the
Science of Reading.
• Launched FY24 Transition to Kindergarten campaign in collaboration with the
Early Learning Coalition (ELC).
• 100% of VPK teachers now have their micro-credential in Emergent Literacy.
• Created four new pre-apprentice programs and expanded apprenticeship
enrollment from zero in 2021 to 258 in 2024.
• Secured approval for Florida CDL testing center at West Tech.
• Provided District-wide Community Experiences
• Grade 5 - Kravis Center
• Grade 7 - Science/Nature
• Grade 10 - History/Social Studies/Civics
Student-Focused Culture
The theme of Student-Focused Culture involves
prioritizing students’ needs and experiences in
all aspects of school life. Initiatives within this
theme foster positive relationships between
students and staff and implement programs to
support student engagement and leadership
development.
• Completed the Elevating Student Voice
Through Peer-Peer Relationships: A Playbook.
• Onboarded 93 adult advisors and 67 schools.
• Acquired grants from Impact Florida and
Stronger Connections to support student voice initiative in District-operated schools.
• Upgraded the District website and created a website app.
• Approved a contract for a parent portal.
