 Indoor Air Quality a Year in Review   School Sustainability
        The District recognizes the significant relationship between the health and wellness of individuals and their
 Environmental and Conservation Services’ (ECS) Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) program is an integral component of   interaction with the natural and man-made environment.  As such, the District supports and encourages
 the department’s mission to provide healthy, sustainable, learning and working environments for all students,   students, teachers and staff to actively participate in school sustainability. This includes: outdoor and

 The Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) program provides services directly to school centers through IAQ assessments

 ECS staff completed 624 IAQ projects utilizing five consultants and six contractors.
 FY19 Response Actions:

   •  3 Fires
   •  31  Flood response (14 major incidents; 5
 sewage back-up incidents)

   •  11 Fire extinguisher discharges  Green Purchasing, Outdoor & Environmental Education and Waste Reduction & Recycling were the
                               top 3 areas of school sustainability funded by the District’s Green Champion Program
   •  22 Student illness related complaints
   •  90 Infectious disease outbreaks
        In FY19, the ECS accepted an award on behalf of the District from Recycle Florida Today for the 2019
   •  113 Odor inspection requests   Environmental Sustainability Award for Outstanding Public/Non-Profit Recycling Program.   The award
   •  127 Staff illness complaints  recognizes programs that display an increased awareness of the importance of sustainability and ability
        to motivate others to maximize their recycling, composting, grass-roots efforts, waste reduction, and
   •  326 Mold inspection requests
        sustainability efforts and improving their recycling rates through education, outreach, and by example.
 ECS’  IAQ program total expenditure for FY19 was $2,877,756.85.
