pandemic, they have proven crucial to providing overall device, infrastructure
and application protection for our students, teachers, staff and administrators
in our new learning and work environments. A number of these best-of-
breed solutions employ machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI) and other
cutting edge technologies that will only get better and more secure over time.

IT Infrastructure

IT Infrastructure is the foundation of our technology platform, providing safe,
secure and robust server, storage and network capabilities that support all of
our devices and applications. This has been an incredibly busy year for the
team. The long-term project to improve our network infrastructure continued
to lead the way. Leveraging E-Rate funds, the team was able to complete the
Fiber Project, allowing 100GB core networking capability at schools. Also
with E-Rate funding, Core Routers were upgraded 10GB at all High Schools
and Middle Schools, and the WiFi Access Point upgrades at Elementary
Schools are nearing completion.

Another multi-year, high-impact project is the District-Wide AVAYA Phone
Upgrade, even in the midst of the pandemic, the team barely skipped a
beat and has now completed all High & Middle schools along with 40
Elementary Schools so far. Great work, team!

Other infrastructure improvements in the past year included:

• Internet Broadband - additional 20GB internet implementation - 24GB to
60GB this year.
• Actifio - replace Veeam and eventually TSM for Enterprise Backups
• P9 Install at FHESC - P8 to NWR (hardware for PeopleSoft, TRIRIGA,
EDW)
• VMware 7 Upgrade
• NWR Server - refresh completed
• SITV Server - refresh completed
• HCI (hyper-converged-infrastructure) - implementation for VMware
management
• High School Servers - refresh completed
• Juniper Firewall - replacement completed
