IT Project Management Office
2020 YEAR IN REVIEW
IT DIVISION
None of these high-impact projects would have been as successful nor
timely without the dedicated help of Project Management professionals in the
IT Project Management Office. Individually and collectively, the team worked
collaboratively with partners inside and outside the District to ensure the
projects were scoped, resourced and implemented as quickly as possible.
A partial list of projects that the IT PMO took the lead on and managed this
year include:
• Next-Gen Content Filtering Solution - Phases I & II
• Carbon Black Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) Solution
• 1:1 Chromebook Acquisition/Deployment for Students
• District-Wide Phone System Upgrade
• Laptop Encryption
• Ellevation English Language Learners (ELL) System
• EdPlan Exceptional Student Education (ESE) System
• Bus WiFi
• EDW MS-SQL Database Conversion
• ERP Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Improvements
• ERP Oracle Database Conversion
• ColdFusion/BCS Application Conversion
• Appsian Data Security
The department also created and implemented the Project Management
Center for Excellence in support of the District’s Strategic Plan’s Initiative
#15. A SharePoint site is available in the District portal, which provides
District staff with tools and resources for the consistent implementation of
projects within District guidelines. It contains templates, how-to-guides,
Project Management process overview and links to District-enabled tools.
The site also includes a new District Project Management Guidebook with
project management structure, guidelines, processes and methodology, for
all District staff. The goal of the guide is to contribute to the District Strategic
Initiative of continuous improvement of project management practices.

In addition to providing top-notch project management, the IT PMO also
took the lead on several proof-of-concepts, pre-acquisition comparisons,
IT Division awards and grants, MS Office Suite and ParentLink training and
provided communication and collaboration between the IT Division and other
departments with technology projects and resources.
As the calendar year 2020 came to a close, there was good news in the form
of several COVID-19 vaccines becoming available. With the pandemic still
raging and numbers seemingly increasing daily, we can see a point in the
future when life will return to some semblance of normality. Regardless of
what may transpire in the coming months or years, I know that we’ll all join
together and do our best to continue our mission of supporting our students,
teachers, staff and each other.
In conclusion, please know that I am extremely proud, humbled and
appreciative of the efforts displayed by all involved during this most difficult
of times and I offer you all my sincere gratitude. Have a great 2021 and
thanks again for all that you do!
