Students, Staff, Parents, and Community Members:

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!

Our back to school theme is ‘Your Time to Shine,’ an uplifting slogan that describes
the District’s optimism as our community slowly emerges from the uncertainty and
disruption of the pandemic. Our theme also appropriately describes my excitement
for the responsibility of supporting our schools, and the opportunity to shine as your
Superintendent by doubling down on the critical work of supporting students
academically, socially, and emotionally.

All across our A-rated District, students are marking their own milestones and
experiences. The future class of 2034 is entering kindergarten, other students are
moving on to middle or high school, and then there are those who are preparing for
their final year and graduation before moving on into adulthood.

Regardless of where a student is in their academic career, this continually updated
Guiding Document will serve as a useful road map, providing detailed, clear-cut
directives about the protocols that will facilitate effective functioning District-wide. This
is a comprehensive reference tool, and a valuable resource with a thorough outline of
expectations and policies, as well as an abundance of helpful information.

I encourage you to familiarize yourself with this Document, as it provides a solid
foundation for our District that is enhanced by the resolve and resilience of our
students, in addition to the dedication of each member of Team Palm Beach. We all
benefit when everyone is aware and in compliance with these important guidelines
and instructions.

I am committed to listening to the dedicated professionals on our school campuses. I
appreciate the input of the community and I look forward to working collectively to
ensure successful outcomes for our children. Although this particular role is new to
me, what is not new is my dedication to this District and the community, demonstrated
by more than 23 years of faithful service and fiscal responsibility.

Thank you for your support of the School District of Palm Beach County. Let’s all work
together to have a great school year, and continue our mission of providing our
children with excellence in education. I can’t wait to see how they shine!
