Tiger Territory Education Garden with Soil and Soul
Soil and Soul is a nonprofit organization created to strengthen and build networks to inspire healthy eating
and emotional well-being in communities. In 2020 they created a community urban garden and education
center across the street from North Grade Elementary. Soil and Soul hosted many exciting events in this garden
space for our students and community:
Mindfulness In Nature hosts up to 20 teens at Tiger Territory two Saturdays per month available to high
school students throughout Palm Beach County. Students participating in this program expand their skills
in mindfulness, earth-work skills, experience a stronger connection with nature, and learn about teamwork.
On April 22, 2022, students from North Grade Elementary made their Earth Day visit to the Tiger Territory
Educational Garden. Their expert nature guides taught children how to truly and safely engage with nature.
Students saw, heard, tasted, touched, smelled, and noticed many marvels of nature for the first time.
In June, 2022 the inaugural Wisdom & Justice Camp at the garden hosted a group of teens who were taught
mindfulness and earth-work skills. The program specifically called on teens to solve the problems we all face –
division, loneliness, toxic stress, anxiety, depression, and violence and helped the teens cultivate their innate
wisdom.

community from low-income areas deemed “food deserts”; nutritional workshops and cooking demonstrations
on healthy eating and how to prepare culturally-relevant nutritious dishes, gardening, weight management,
