Wellness Promotion
OneBlood, Inc, Agreement
During FY2022 School Food Service facilitated formal communication with OneBlood,Inc. to assess and
support their goal to educate and provide the value of blood donation and set Blood Drives in the District. A
cross-functional team was developed to support this initiative. The following is a list of the departments who
have assisted:
o Communications and Engagement
o General Counsel’s Office
o Planning and Intergovernmental Relations
o Risk and Benefits Management
o School Police
o School Transformation
o School Food Service
A bulletin was issued to communicate to internal stakeholders (High School Principals and Directors) about
the final agreement with OneBlood, Inc., (Agreement) the importance of blood donations for the community,
and the protocols and processes to establish them at school campuses and District facilities.
Throughout the year, students and staff boarded OneBlood’s signature Big Red Bus to help save lives and
donated 2,600 units of blood. Each donation can help save up to three people, which means the District
actually helped 7,800 patients with their collaboration.
There were a total of 25 high school campuses and in addition, the District Headquarters (Fulton Holland
Educational Services Center) that supported blood donation during the 2021-2022 school year with a total of
45 Blood Drives.
Donating Blood Provided Benefits for the Students and Staff:
• All blood donors received a complimentary wellness checkup which included blood pressure, pulse,
temperature, iron count, and cholesterol screening.
• Donating regularly helps improve blood flow and can result in fewer arterial blockages.
• OneBlood, Inc. provided the District with an Educational Assistance and Scholarship Program
supporting students toward their academic future.
OneBlood, Inc. had an opportunity to honor their top Exemplary Blood Drive Performers for FY22 at the
Passion • Quality • Respect
District’s Wellness Promotion Task Force meeting on June 7, 2022. The following were the top awardees:
• Top School Award - Park Vista High School
• Top Committee Award - Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts
