Supporting Graduation and Post-Graduation Success
The Department of Multicultural Education has a team of counselors, social facilitators, and graduation
success coaches dedicated to supporting ELLs’ school placements and graduation and post-
graduation goals. “After High School…What?” is a graduation guide that the department produces
in various languages for students to use as a tool to set their graduation and post-graduation goals.
Additionally, the Department of Multicultural Education and Migrant Education Programs host a
series of local and statewide college tours to promote post-secondary educational plans among
ELLs and migrant students and families. Students in grades 8 through 12 benefit from participating
in these programs.

The Department of Multicultural Education partnered with nine high schools to support at-risk ELLs
in grade 12 to meet their graduation requirements. These schools are Glades Central High School,
Palm Beach Gardens High School, Santaluces High School, Lake Worth High School, Boynton Beach
High School, Boca Raton High School, Forest Hill High School, Jupiter High School, and Wellington
High School. Participating students received instruction in SAT and ACT with the integration of
language acquisition strategies. Scholarships were provided for ELL students who had utilized all
waivers.

Language Development and Literacy Initiatives
The department conducted a summer camp for students in grades K-2 and 6-11. Students at all
grade levels were provided with language acquisition strategies leading to the students’ next
grade level assignment.
