Board and Community Relations
Innovative School Project
As part of The Roosevelt Elementary School and Surrounding Schools’ Growth & Change Plan,
Roosevelt Elementary parents and staff are committed to embracing new ways of thinking about
learning, a move from the traditional public school settings for centuries. With a new Project-
Based Learning (PBL) focus in Pre K-2 that integrates the arts and music (vocal and band) into
the curriculum. Teachers are enthusiastic about embarking on this constantly evolving practice in
maintaining an innovative, deeper-learning school.
Project Goals:
• To develop an Innovative School model for the Roosevelt community that centers on excellence,
equity, and deeper learning in an environment where voice and agency are celebrated.
• To develop an innovative school that will delight and inspires families in the community.
To date, the following successes have been achieved:
• Partnerships with many community organizations, including Northend RISE, Lyrae Group, City of
West Palm Beach, Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, Education Foundation
of Palm Beach County, Health Care District of Palm Beach County, Economic Council of Palm
Beach County, Purpose Built Communities, TeamWork Education Foundation, and Resource
Depot.
• Three community input meetings to share information about the school and gather families’
priorities.
• Development of mentoring plan between Roosevelt teachers and those at The Conservatory
School.
• TeamWork Education Foundation awarded Roosevelt EL 70 instruments through the
Instrumental Music Program Grant (IMP).
• Donation of $12,000 from the Quantum Foundation to provide teacher resources such as loose
parts from Resource Depot.
A variety of project management methodologies were used to plan, develop, control, and implement
this project at Roosevelt Elementary School.
