State Board of Education Rulemaking
The State Board of Education (SBE) is tasked with creating and revising rules to provide school districts with details on
how to implement bills passed during the legislative session. As such, new and revised rules are a continual discussion topic
during State Board of Education meetings. On occasion, a SBE rule provides instructions that extend beyond the parameters
of the original bill. In FY23, Superintendent Burke implemented a new process to capture the new/revised SBE rules, relay
the changes to impacted staff members, and monitor any needed adjustments to District policies and procedures.

Local Partnerships with Elected Officials and Business Leaders
Superintendent Burke and his team continuously strive to forge strong, supportive relationships with local elected officials
as well as those in the business community across Palm Beach County. Many local leaders voluntarily assist by engaging in
awareness campaigns to support the District. The Superintendent and District staff realize that keeping community leaders
well-informed on legislative, educational, and fiscal issues is essential to both District and community success.
