Strategic Plan Implementation

On August 3, 2022, the School Board approved the District’s Strategic Plan. Grounded in the District’s mission to “educate,
affirm, and inspire each student in an equity-embedded school system,” the strategic plan is organized into four themes
and 13 initiatives. Superintendent Burke launched the strategic plan with principals and other District leaders at the
Principals and Supervisors Meeting on July 28, 2022, as a precursor to back-to-school. On October 25, 2022, approximately
125 employees, District leaders, and workgroup members joined the celebratory kick-off at Fulton-Holland Educational
Services Center. The participants learned about the strategic plan framework, their roles as workgroup members, and the
systems designed to monitor the strategic plan implementation.
To yield transformational change, the Strategic Management team developed systems and processes to provide intentional
support to the workgroups to guide the monitoring and implementation of each initiative. The team conducted training
sessions on developing the initiative charter, monitoring progress, and managing projects. During focused monthly meetings,
the team acted as thought partners to support the owners and project coordinators in implementing their initiatives.

Looking back on the first year of implementation of the strategic plan, the District accomplished several critical milestones
that serve as a cornerstone and catalyst for implementing other initiatives and projects.
On May 3, 2023, Board members were updated on the progress of the strategic plan, the accomplishments to date, and the
next steps. See Figure 1 for accomplishments to date.
