102 SUPERINTENDENT ANNUAL REPORT1MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS Objective 1: Enhance a sense of belonging, safety, and acceptance for all studentsPOSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORTPositive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) provide a research-based, multi-tiered framework addressing students%u2019 behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. All District schools implement systems that incorporate seven essential components:1. Administrator support, participation, and leadership2. Team processes that define a common purpose and approach to discipline3. Established positive expectations for students and staff4. Instructional procedures for teaching expected behaviors5. Recognition systems that encourage positive actions6. Corrective measures that discourage inappropriate behavior7. Ongoing monitoring to evaluate system effectivenessThe District earned recognition through the FY25 Florida PBIS Project, with 126 campuses achieving Model School status, including 44 bronze, 30 silver, and 52 gold awards.During FY26, the PBIS team supported all campuses in developing action plans aligned with school-specific goals. Staff prioritized strengthening core classroom systems and supplementing them with tier 2 and tier 3 supports. End-of-year walkthroughs also enabled coaches to guide evaluations, identifying successes and areas for growth.Classroom Management SystemThe District%u2019s Single School Culture for Behavior team provided positive classroom management strategies based on Randy Sprick%u2019s Safe & Civil Schools. The training resources and content are grounded in research on how effective teachers implement PBIS strategies in their classrooms. Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation, and Success (CHAMPS) is a practical framework educators use to set clear expectations for students before major classroom activities and transitions. In FY26, more than 1,380 teachers received classroom management training and were offered side-by-side support, which significantly improved classroom dynamics and student engagement. Corrective Behavior Intervention ReportThe District introduced the Corrective Behavior Intervention Report (CBIR). This tool requires professionals to deliver timely interventions and document each attempt before submitting an office discipline referral. More than 780 administrators and staff members received CBIR training to manage minor classroom incidents effectively.Model School winners for the Glades Region
