POLICIES
This Manual is specifically incorporated by reference into this Policy and is located on the

b. Except as stated within Section 9 of this Policy, District technology resources, including, but not
limited to the use of computers, networks, copiers, biometric record readers, and
communication devices such as cellular and office phones, smart phones, mobile devices and
facsimile machines, shall not be used for a private business or for the benefit of "for profit," or
"not for profit" organizations or by employees who are agents or acting on behalf of such
organizations, unless the use of the technology will benefit the District or, as to "not for profit"
organizations, if the organization’s purpose in using such technology benefits the students,
schools or community and is not for religious or political purposes.
c. Any employee using District technology resources, including accessing the Internet in any form
through the District's network, must have successfully completed the mandatory eLearning
course for Policy 3.29 training which includes electronically signing the Technology Services
Acknowledgement and Consent form, which can be found in the Appendix to the Manual.
i. The employee shall take the eLearning course upon initial employment by the
District, after the adoption by the School Board of any revisions to this Policy and
notification by a District bulletin, Exempt employees may take the course during their
regular duty hours. Nonexempt employees must take the course during their regular
duty hours unless requested by the employee and permission is received from the
appropriate supervisor/administrator for overtime/comp time per School Board Policy
6.12 or the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
ii. The consent shall include a statement that the District discourages employees
from using their personal email accounts to conduct official District business. If their
personal email accounts are used to transact official District business and the District
needs access to these emails for good cause, the employees voluntarily consent to
provide these emails timely to the District upon request. If the employees fail to provide
them to the District, they agree that the District has the authority to contact the online
carrier/service provider to retrieve these emails.
d. There is only a limited expectation of privacy to the extent required by law for the employee
related to his/her use of District technology resources. The District may monitor an employee's
use of District technology for good cause, such as for educational purposes, responding to a
records request, ensuring that their use is authorized; for management of the system; to
facilitate protection against unauthorized access; verifying security procedures, survivability and
operational security; compliance with School Board policies, a possible security incident, routine
maintenance or computer performance.
e. Before using the District's technology resources, employees shall become familiar with and agree
to abide by the District's employee Code of Ethics (School Board Policy 3.02) as well as Fla.
Admin. Code Rules 6A-10.080 and 6A-10.081, and policies prohibiting harassment and
