COMMUNITY
The next challenge was modeled after the NYC Marathon – NYC Marathon Video. Members of the community
participated during October 2020 and finishing the first week of November 2020, the same week the NYC
Marathon would have taken place. The participants were encouraged to complete the 26.2 miles during that
time at their own pace. The interactive map of NYC allowed everyone to explore the five boroughs, learn
the history of the marathon, earn boro-badges and a finisher medal – NYC Marathon Map. It also gave
participants training and hydration tips, stretches, and healthy recipes to make. For extra encouragement
as they achieved certain milestones, they were able to click on the yellow taxi cabs on the map and see an
inspirational story of someone who overcame obstacles to complete the NYC marathon. Everyone shared their
badges and virtual medals on social media using the hashtags #PBCPErocks and #PBCPENYCMarathon.
Any of these challenges were made to be completed at any time and to encourage everyone to keep moving,
stayactive, and be healthy!
