“The strong school community collaboration and networks developed by the leadership
of the Wellness Promotion Task Force (WPTF) were key to mobilizing community support
and promoting action in the midst of extreme challenges posed by the pandemic. The
work of both the WPTF and the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) has utilized the
excellent framework of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model to
guide their efforts. SHAC remains a dedicated partner in this multifaceted work of the
WPTF to strengthen learning experiences through optimizing student health and well-
being.”

SHAC GOALS

• To support The School District of Palm Beach County in promoting policies and programs that provide
an environment that encourages the ten components of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole
Child culture in all schools.

• To support the school community in providing programs that promote social, emotional, and behavioral
health and well-being for all students and their families.

• To support development and implementation of K-12 comprehensive health education that promotes
healthy living and decision-making for all students and their families.
