Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP60) is a partnership between the National Dairy Council and the National
Football League (NFL) and is supported by the USDA and GENYOUth. FUTP60 is an excellent resource for
schools to use in order to promote and increase wellness initiatives on site and the Dairy Council updated their
model to include more virtual and COVID safe plays. The program empowers students and educators to work
together to build a healthy school environment, primarily focusing on eating healthy and increasing physical
activity. Schools can participate by creating an account and identifying a Program Advisor. The Program
Advisor is the contact person on that school campus for the program’s reporting purposes and coordinating
the activities.
To be successful in completing the program, a school has to complete three (3) plays (in any order):
1. A kick-off: This step is all about building visibility and generating excitement about FUTP60. A
school can create their own Kick-off or choose from options provided.
2. Healthy Eating: This step is about improving healthy eating in the school. The program has a
playbook with different strategies/themes to choose from.
3. Physical Activity: This step is about finding fun and exciting ways to get everyone active at the
school. The program has a playbook with different strategies/themes to choose from.
Once all three steps are completed, the school earns a ‘Touchdown’. All participating schools in the 2020-
2021 school year received goodies such as water bottles, watches, books, pens, pencils, drawstring bags,
t-shirts, sunglasses, light-up risk bands etc.
Traditionally, the District has between 3-5 schools complete both a nutrition and fitness play and reach the
end goal of a touchdown. With a dedicated team approach during FY21, thirty-four (34) schools in the District
earned a ‘Touchdown’.
