Utilizes hands-on approaches.

Is “Real” world oriented.
Provides for in-depth processing and understanding.

Is cross-curricular and multidisciplinary in nature.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) program provided many
benefits for the students, staff and families. The program pivoted from the traditional brick and mortar setting
and began operating virtually. We provided:
Virtual and hybrid program option for all program sites.
Virtual family engagement events.
Virtual professional development and program monitoring.
Varied resources to enhance student learning and promote engagement/autonomy (i.e., digital
applications that included virtual field trips, interactive science experiments, and expanded learning
opportunities).
Individual student kits/materials for home use.
Virtual Wellness checks.
