WSCC Wheel...
Superintendent, Michael J. Burke is the leader of the largest workforce in Palm Beach County, a staff of more
than 22,800 employees strong. Mr. Burke is prioritizing efforts to better understand the daily responsibilities
and critical contributions of staff members. A new video series called “Burke at Work” is one of many ways
Mr. Burke is accomplishing this push toward increased familiarity with members of Team Palm Beach.

Burke at Work: School Food Service
Our Superintendent got a taste of the lunch rush at Galaxy E3 Elementary School. During “Burke at
Work,” the Superintendent had the opportunity to shadow staff members in various positions in the
cafeteria to get a feel for what they do and the important role they play in the success of the District.

In a recent Strategic Plan survey, parents overwhelmingly supported adding more outdoor activities,
so in this episode of “Burke at Work,” Superintendent Burke spent time co-teaching with Ms. Jennifer
Johnson, a Physical Education teacher at Lake Park Elementary.

Burke at Work: Transportation
The District’s driving decision-maker got a look at the inner workings of the Transportation Department
during this episode of “Burke at Work.” Superintendent Mike Burke was able to show his gratitude for our
bus drivers and Transportation staff during Love the Bus Month!

Burke at Work: HVAC Technician
The District celebrated Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day and as an extension of that appreciation,
Superintendent Mike Burke went to great heights to better understand the important work of Maintenance
and Plant Operations staff. In this episode of “Burke at Work,” Mr. Burke spent time working alongside Mr.
Esteban Woods, a senior HVAC technician and Pahokee High alumnus.

Burke at Work: Facilities Construction
The Penny Sales Tax is helping to renovate aging Palm Beach County schools. With school out, summer
is a busy time to perform much of the work. See how Superintendent Burke pitched in to build a better
future.
