The Teen Parent Program (TPP) is a voluntary program offered
by The School District of Palm Beach County to provide education,
childcare and access to health and social services for pregnant and
parenting teens. Students who are pregnant, as well as teen mothers
and fathers, are supported in becoming responsible parents and
completing requirements for graduation. While in the program,
students receive support services such as child care, health care,
social services, parenting education and transportation.
Participants in TPP must enroll and complete one Parenting Skills
course while continuing to earn credits toward a standard or special
diploma. Palm Beach Virtual High School also offer the Parenting
Skills course. Students who have completed the parenting course
continue to receive support services while enrolled in their high
school diploma program.
In FY22, the Teenage Parent Program (TPP) identified 105 students of which 80 students remained active
and received direct ongoing TPP services and support. The 80 students served included 6 middle school
students and 74 high school students. In addition, The School District of Palm Beach County and the Early
Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County worked together to assist students who needed childcare through
the program and after graduation through local funding. Child care services were provided for 41 children of
TPP participants.
TPP also worked with Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County to assist pregnant and
parenting students in accessing a variety of programs through Healthy Beginnings to support a healthy
pregnancy and healthy birth.
Of the 105 individual student assessments for services/support completed by the Teenage Parent Program
Case Manager:
24% of the students were participating in the Healthy Beginnings Programs.
60% of the students received information/referral to Teen Parent Mentoring Programs.
66% of the students received information/referral to TRIO College Readiness Programs.
