102 FY25 Wellness Promotion Policy (WPP) Annual Report Back to MenuEmployee WellnessThe School District of Palm Beach County had an increase of 3.5% for their medical claims in FY25 which is 10.6% less than normal for K-12 Public Schools. Overall, this is 70% lower than all the K-12 Public Schools in UHC%u2019s (United Healthcare) book of business. This is a notable achievement given that the District%u2019s employee population has a claims risk score that is 75% higher than average, based on demographic and health factors such as age, gender, Social Drivers of Health, and existing medical conditions. This outcome reflects the strength of the District%u2019s culture of wellness and underscores the impact of the Employee Wellness Program and its Wellness Champions. Two Key Areas were identified, the first being Virtual Care Engagement. Virtual Care provides members with faster, more convenient access to healthcare, while saving money for both the member and the District. The goal for FY26 is to double engagement in Virtual Care Services. The second area of focus is to engage more members who have a metabolic condition with the resources and programs available through the District, UHC, the District Onsite Clinic (DOC), and other local organizations. By increasing the members engaged in their condition, we can look to decrease costs for members and the District by 30%.Health Activation Index (HAI)UnitedHealthcare analyzes the performance of employee health choices using a tool called the Health Activation Index (HAI). The tool reviews 53 health decisions (financial, clinical, use of resources) and summarizes them into a unique score, where each +1% change equals a 0.56% savings due to members making these better health choices. The District saw an HAI that was 3.4% better than the K-12 Public Schools norm, helping members to live healthier and save money.Preventive Visits and Screenings One of the 53 key health decisions that is part of the HAI is a member%u2019s annual preventive exam. The District continues to stand out within the K%u201312 Public School sector, reporting breast cancer screening rates 10 points higher, cervical cancer screening rates 7 points higher, and colon cancer screening rates 9 points higher than sector averages.
