Year!Enjoy the Enjoy theChicken Ramen Bowl Chicken Ramen Bowlwith Egg Roll with Egg RollHispanic Heritage MonthFrom September 15 to October 15, 2024, students embarked on a flavorful journey during Hispanic Heritage Month. Featured items included Guava Pastries, Chicken Verde Rice Bowls, Empanadas, Burritos, Arepas with Carnitas and Curtido, along with traditional favorites such as Soft Tacos, Pupusas, Black Beans, Yuca, and Fiesta Corn.Lunar New YearIn celebration of Lunar New Year, students were introduced to Ramen Bowls%u2014Beef & Broccoli and Chicken & Vegetable%u2014which were sampled at Timber Trace Elementary, Elbridge Gale Elementary, and Bear Lakes Middle. Elbridge Gale Elementary hosted the District%u2019s media team during the Chicken & Vegetable Ramen Bowl launch, and Independence Middle welcomed the Woodles Ramen Company Team for the Beef & Broccoli Ramen Bowl rollout. Student and staff feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many requesting that the Ramen Bowls become a regular item on our menu.Black History MonthThroughout February, cafeterias celebrated Black History Month with a lineup of Southern comfort food, which were crafted honoring the rich culinary heritage of African American culture. These included Southern Chicken Poppers Mashed Potato Bowl, Chicken & Waffles, and Baked Apples. Items were tested at several schools, including Allamanda Elementary, Dwight D. Eisenhower K-8, Jeaga Middle, Westward Elementary, and U.B. Kinsey/Palm View Elementary. Feedback highlighted strong student enthusiasm and requests for repeat appearances of these menu items. Fish on FridaysThroughout March and April, Fish on Fridays was spotlighted. This initiative significantly expanded the menu%u2019s seafood variety, moving beyond standard fare to introduce several appealing options. A standout addition was the new Fish Taco, which proved to be an instant favorite among students. This allowed our students to explore new flavors, learn about traditions from around the world, and celebrate food in a whole new way. Student feedback played a key role in shaping these menu offerings, ensuring they were well-received and aligned with student preferences.
