Student Academic Support Plan

The Student Academic Support Plan (SASP) codified the District’s approach to addressing instructional gaps and concluded
at the end of the FY24 school year. The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) provided federal
funds to the District, effectively addressing learning loss and supporting academic acceleration through the implementation
of the SASP. Funds were allocated using a tiered approach, ensuring that the students and schools most in need received the
necessary resources. These funds also bolstered teaching expertise through professional learning and strategic support for
teachers, enhancing the overall educational environment.

During the past three years, the SASP provided instructional support in the following areas:
          • Reading recovery
          • Course acceleration
          • Supplemental academic instruction for Professional Learning Communities facilitators
          • Resource teachers

        Student Performance Data

The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is the state progress monitoring assessment system implemented in
FY23 for English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics. The assessments are administered three times yearly and assess
the Benchmark for Excellent Student Thinking Standards (B.E.S.T.). In addition, the Algebra 1 and Geometry End-of-Course
Assessments have been aligned with the B.E.S.T. Standards. In early FY24, The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE)
retrofitted the FY23 scores to provide an apples-to-apples comparison to the current scores. As such, the FY23 data has
been rescaled from what was reported in last year’s annual report. Highlights from the assessments are in the figures below.

        English Language Arts
In ELA, the percentage of students scoring on grade level increased throughout the year for all grades in FY23 and FY24.
Further, the number of students scoring on grade level during the spring assessments increased from FY23 to FY24 in all
grades (2 to 8 percentage points) except grades 2 and 4.
