Accelerated Mathematics Pathway
To best meet the needs of all students in Palm Beach County, accelerated mathematics pathways (AMP) provide students
the opportunity to receive targeted mathematics instruction through mathematics course compaction. Mathematics
acceleration provides students increased access to advanced coursework opportunities in math and science, allows students
to engage when ready through multiple on-ramps and off-ramps to accelerated content, and is associated with higher
levels of proficiency than students not in accelerated pathways regardless of prior performance. Accelerated mathematics
courses are available to students in grades 3-8 and lead to a variety of mathematical opportunities depending on interest.
If acceleration begins in middle school, students may enroll in Algebra 1 as early as grade 8. If acceleration begins in
elementary school, students may enroll in Algebra 1 as early as grade 7.
*High school math courses after Geometry can be taken in a variety of progressions depending on the needs of the student and
the course offerings available at the school.
