LATE APPLICATIONS
Late Applications
If you missed the on-time deadline, a late application window will be available for students who have not yet submitted a Choice
application for the 2026-2027 school year. The specific dates for this window will be published on the Choice program website.
Late applications are not included in the March lottery. Once submitted, each late application is reviewed for program eligibility. All
eligible late applicants are then placed in the waitpool for their selected program(s). They will only be considered for an assignment after
all on-time applicants in the waitpool have been accommodated.
For programs requiring an audition, language assessment, or other special eligibility criteria, late applicants will only be invited to test or
audition under very limited circumstances. This will only occur if the waitpool of all eligible on-time applicants has been exhausted, and
there are still open seats in the program.
Newly Arriving Palm Beach County Families
We understand that moving is a complex process, but it is critical to note that the application windows for our highly selective Choice
Programs are strictly enforced for all applicants. This policy is in place for several operational reasons:
· Seat Availability: Choice Programs have limited capacity. All available seats are typically filled via a random lottery process based
on applications received by the on-time application date.
· Audition Scheduling & Review: Audition programs require substancial time for staff to schdule, conduct, and evaluate
performances or portfolios. Adding applications after the official deadline disrupts the assesment timeline.
· Administravtive Processing: The logistics of processing thousands of applications and coordinating the assignment lottery require
a fixed submission timeline.
What This Means For You
If you moved to Palm Beach County after the application deadlines, your student should be registered in their assigned public school
based on your new residential address.
You may still be able to pursue a transfer to a different school through Controlled Open Enrollment. Visit mypbchoiceapp.com to learn
more about this process including deadlines and available schools.
We encourage you to visit the District's Choice website and prepare well in advance of the application windows for the following
school year.
Key Considerations
Accepting a seat in a Choice program means agreeing to the following conditions for the entire school year:
· Full-Time Participation: Choice program students must participate on a full-time basis. If a student wishes to enroll in programs like Early
Admission, or full-time Virtual School that prevent them from completing their required Choice coursework, they must exit the Choice
program and return to their zoned school.
· No Program Changes: Once assigned to a program through the lottery, a student may not switch to a different Choice program at that
same school.
· Maintain Residency: If your family moves and the change of address impacts your school boundary or county residency, this may affect your
child's continued placement in the program.
· Keep Your Address Updated: If your address changes after you apply, you must update it immediately. Failure to do so may result in your
application becoming ineligible or a future seat assignment being revoked.
· Moving Out of Palm Beach County: Applicants who move out of Palm Beach County at any point during the application or assignment
process will immediately become ineligible for a Choice program.
· Application Deadline: Your eligibility for specific schools is based on your address at the time of the application deadline. Address changes
made after the deadline will not be used to grant new eligibility for different school choices.
· Policy Updates: Please be aware that School Board policies and Choice Department procedures may amend program contracts.
