Managing Technology Success
The Information Technology Project Management Office (IT PMO) provides project management oversight, schedules,
tracking, and lessons learned for technology projects across the District. In FY23, the IT PMO headed up the Centegix/
CrisisAlert project to install, set up, and distribute over 25,000 hard panic button badges to provide real-time alerts to
school staff and local 911 centers in the event of an emergency. Transportation projects included a manual-to-electronic
bus video collection process and electronic bus inspections for all buses. The department also managed an initiative to
standardize a universal student identification badge across the District, distributing over 350 printers and enough supplies
for over 200,000 identification badges. The IT PMO led the effort to catalog, review, and publicly display over 6,000 classroom
libraries in accordance with Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) legislation. Other IT projects managed by the PMO
included moving the Student Information System (SIS) platform and the District Portal to the cloud, improvements to the
SIS document center, school re-cabling, and Lexmark multifunction printer redistribution.
Operational Excellence
Operational Excellence is a program designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Operations Division. This
initiative aims to align the division’s goals and objectives with the District’s strategic objectives, ensuring a cohesive and
integrated approach to achieving overall organizational success.
Using the H.E.A.R.T. (Helpful, Effective, Accountable, Respectful, and Team Player) model, the Operations Division
introduces several endeavors to foster operational excellence. The monthly Operational Excellence Forums encourage staff
to share and discuss operational successes and hurdles. The platform enables staff to address challenges and proactively
identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
