Student Academic Support Plan

The development of the Student Academic Support Plan (SASP) codifies the District’s approach to addressing instructional
gaps. The District recognizes that disparities in student achievement existed before the COVID-19 pandemic, however
the pandemic widened these instructional gaps. Despite these challenges, the District’s academic team utilized this
opportunity to rethink both short and long-term academic supports to increase student achievement and to collaborate
        across departments to leverage resources.

Since the District’s top priority is to maximize the instructional opportunities for all students, the instructional areas of
focus are literacy and mathematics. Schools received one or more of the following resources to assist in mitigating the
        instructional losses of students:

        Elementary Schools
          • Reading Recovery Teacher
          • Acceleration Teacher
          • K-2 Supplemental Academic Instruction Teacher
          • Professional Learning Community Facilitator
        Secondary Schools
          • English Language Arts Resource Teacher
          • Mathematics Resource Teacher
          • Intensive Reading Teacher
          • Intensive Mathematics Teacher
          • Professional Learning Community Facilitator
          • Graduation Support Teacher

In addition, all schools received tutorial dollars which allowed school-based leaders to develop additional learning
experiences for students during and after school. These resources increased opportunities for students to receive the
remediation or enrichment needed to ensure academic success.

        Student Performance Data

The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is the new state progress monitoring assessment system implemented
in FY23 for language arts and mathematics. This assessment is administered three times per year and assesses the B.E.S.T.
Standards. In addition, the Algebra and Geometry End-of-Course (EOC) assessments have been aligned to the B.E.S.T.
Standards. Since this is the first administration of these assessments and standards, comparison to prior years should be
        made with caution.
