No Kid Hungry Spotlight School Initiative
No Kid Hungry has been an ongoing partner to School Food Service (SFS), helping to promote school meal programs and
increase meal participation throughout the District. During FY23, No Kid Hungry awarded SFS $30,000 for supplies and
equipment to help support their passion for keeping kids first!
No Kid Hungry is a national campaign run by Share Our Strength, a nonprofit organization working to solve problems of
childhood hunger and poverty in the United States and worldwide. As part of their endeavor to tell the story of hungry
children in America, they partnered with SFS in FY21 for the Spotlight Schools–Palm Beach County initiative, designed to
tell those stories through the No Kid Hungry campaign and the successful school meal programs that feed students.
During FY23, No Kid Hungry spotlighted Northmore ES. A film crew from
Univision and TV host Maggie Jimenez visited the school on November 3, 2022.
They highlighted SFS staff, teachers, and students and captured exciting footage of
children receiving and eating school breakfast.
Northmore ES story was featured on Univision’s Despierta America Morning Show
on December 1, 2022, sharing with viewers the importance of school meals for students and the impact of No Kid Hungry’s
outreach in our communities. As a special thank you, No Kid Hungry generously awarded Northmore ES $7,500 and
backpacks to all the students who participated in the filming.
