EDUCATE | AFFIRM | INSPIRE 121FACILITY-BASED SECURITY UPGRADESDuring FY26, the District made significant progress in strengthening campus safety through a series of targeted, District-wide initiatives. Schools received critical structural and technological upgrades, including additional access-control devices, expanded closed-circuit camera coverage, and enhanced perimeter security with fencing and gates.Building on this momentum, the District has begun several major security projects, including implementing electronic key boxes, constructing secure vestibules, installing Bi-Directional Amplification (BDA) systems to enhance emergency communications, and developing guardhouses at select sites. Together, these efforts demonstrate a safe and secure learning environment across all schools.FY26 SUPPORT FOR 2024 SALES TAX REFERENDUMThe Facilities Management Division is compiling a project list for the upcoming 10-year capital plan, which includes funding from the approved One-Half Cent Tax Referendum. This list, addressing critical plant needs, outlines scopes of work, anticipated costs, and projected timelines. In addition to developing scopes for safety and security projects and planning school-based initiatives, planned maintenance projects required comprehensive inspections and assessments of all major components of each campus. In collaboration with the Chief Financial Office and the Office of General Counsel, the Department of Facilities Construction has revised policies to comply with legislative mandates and updated contract language to expedite payments to contractors.Sample BDA system in a school campus.
