                                    EDUCATE | AFFIRM | INSPIRE 141SustainabilitySustainability was a guiding principle for SFS in FY26, with a focus on reducing the use of disposable items. The department launched several initiatives to support this goal:%u2022 Reusable stainless-steel trays were piloted at eight schools, including six elementary and two middle schools. The program diverts 4,314 foam trays from landfills each day, totaling more than 750,000 trays annually and saving approximately $37,000 in the first year.%u2022 Sharing tables returned to more than 10 cafeterias, allowing students to share unopened food on stainless-steel tables and in compact refrigerators.%u2022 Food waste audits were conducted to measure reductions in landfill contributions.%u2022 Carton recycling efforts expanded through collaboration with Environmental & Conservation Services.
