EDUCATE | AFFIRM | INSPIRE 393ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND GROWTHObjective 3: Improve equitable participation in programs and resourcesTHE ACCELERATED MATHEMATICS PLANThe Accelerated Mathematics Plan (AMP) provides students with the opportunity to reach their full potential through targeted instruction and %u201ccourse compaction.%u201d This process allows learners to move through the curriculum more quickly, reaching advanced high school-level math while still in middle school. The benefits of joining an accelerated pathway extend beyond getting ahead. Key advantages include:%u2022 Learners in accelerated courses consistently demonstrate higher proficiency on the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) Assessment than those in regular courses, regardless of prior performance.%u2022 Multiple avenues that allow participants to enter or exit accelerated content when academically ready.Acceleration is available for students in grades 3 through 8 via either of these tracks:%u2022 When acceleration starts as early as grade 3, participants reach Algebra 1 by grade 7, followed by Geometry in grade 8.%u2022 If acceleration begins in middle school, individuals take accelerated math in grades 6 and 7 to prepare for Algebra 1 in grade 8.Grade 3 Grade 4 Grade5 Grade 6 Grade 7 Grade 8 Grade 9 Grade 10 Grade 11 Grade 123rd Acc.Math4th Acc.Math6th Acc.
