P. 14
The 2016-2021 Strategic Technology plan is crucial to providing the road map for success.
The Division of Information Technology’s (IT) vision is to
provide cost effective solutions and services to our
students and employees. These solutions and services will
align with our District Strategic Plan and complement the
District Pillars of Effective Instruction.
The Technology Plan for 2016-2021 strives to foster
academic growth and success by providing stable, secure
and robust technology infrastructure, systems and
processes that help prepare students for lifelong learning
and workforce readiness. The Plan aligns with and
supports the 5-year District Strategic Plan for preparing
students to compete, and excel, in a global economy that
requires greater use and knowledge of technology than at
any time in the past. It is also in alignment with the National
Educational Technology Plan and the Florida State Board
of Education Technology Plan. Michael Burke

Building on the previous Technology Plan, this new plan
continues to recognize the expanding and ubiquitous role that technology plays in a 21
st
century classroom. Rising concerns of privacy and
security also present challenges that are addressed in
the Technology Plan as we strive to provide students
and teachers with greater and continuous access in a
safe, secure digital environment. Five of the key
critical areas the plan seeks to address are:
Personalized Learning: Supporting Educational
Technology (Ed Tech) and the Academic Office to help
ensure that all students are receiving instruction in
the place, time, and manner that is most beneficial to
them. The educational need for round-the-clock
access to technology is increasing tremendously and
with online assignments and turn-in, virtual classes,
plus collaborative applications like Google Apps,
class is never really out of session.
