challenges still remain. We’re making good progress in shrinking the Divide, by
continuing to put more devices into schools, providing additional support for Bring
Your Own Device (BYOD) and Digital Classroom initiatives, as well as 1:1 pilots.

 Evolving Applications – Projects such as the implementation of a new Student
Information System (SIS) to replaces our legacy mainframe application (TERMS),
demonstrate the commitment to deliver best-of-breed solutions in order to provide
students, staff, and State/Federal DOE with timely, precise reporting, and analytics
to measure student achievement and growth.

 Improved Infrastructure – The amount of bandwidth, storage, devices, and support
needed to maintain the growing technological needs of students, teachers, and staff
has continued to rapidly increase, in some cases exponentially. The building out of
South Instructional TV as a redundant data center means, when complete, that our
up-time capabilities for critical applications will be greatly enhanced.

 Increased Business Process Automation – The ability of applications to replace
current time-consuming, manual processes on the business side with streamlined,
automated processes translates into a more effective administration, with more
bandwidth to respond directly to school needs. PeopleSoft, IBM TRIRIGA, Enterprise
portal, e-Support and e-Forms have already brought considerable economies to the
business, administrative, and facilities maintenance arenas.

 Expanding and Improving - The 2016–2021 Technology Plan provides the roadmap
for the District's expected technology needs. By expanding and enhancing our
existing Project Management structures, we look to create a cycle of continuous
improvement by constantly planning, executing, measuring, and evaluating our
systems, processes, and projects. Fostering an atmosphere that encourages
collaboration, transparency, open communication, and feedback from our
leadership, staff, teachers, students, parents/guardians, and the community will be
critical in evaluating our progress and ensuring we’re on the right path.
